Hunger seems to be the body’s signal that it is craving something it doesn’t currently have. That something may be the proper nutrition it needs to function at optimum levels, or it may be the tender touch of a loved one, which causes the release of Oxytocin (the love hormone).

However, just because we stuff the stomach with food, doesn’t mean the body is getting the nutrition it needs. Likewise, just because we distract the body (drugs, alcohol, food, TV, computer games, etc.) doesn’t mean the body no longer needs some tender, loving touch.

I reckon a good idea is to educate yourself on what your body really needs so that you’re not just stuffing a gag in the mouth of your inner voice whenever it tries to guide you to a higher quality of living and enjoyment of life.
